Dog-Friendly Elblag: Verified Parks, Forest Trails and the Riverside

Park Modrzewie - a heritage walk on the lead
Park Modrzewie is one of Elblag's finest historic parks - over a century old and long a favourite spot for everyday walks. Grand old alleys, mature trees and a calm atmosphere make it worth a visit.
Note: the park is listed as a heritage monument, which restricts new development. A proposal to build a dog run inside Park Modrzewie was rejected by the heritage conservation office. Dogs are welcome, but a lead is required at all times. Check local signage when you arrive.

Bazantarnia - a proper forest walk on the hills
Bazantarnia is comfortably Elblag's best dog-walking destination. It is 369 hectares of municipal forest on the edge of the Elblag Upland - ravines, streams, steep beech and hornbeam slopes, and on a clear day a view of the city panorama from Gora Chrobrego.
A network of marked trails means you can put together routes of varying length and difficulty. This is the place for longer, more demanding walks - especially in cooler weather, when the forest is at its finest.
Key rules:
- Lead required at all times - municipal forest with wildlife present. Check current signage at the entrance.
- The terrain can be demanding - steep slopes and roots can be slippery after rain. Pack water for your dog, as sources along the trails are scarce.
- Car parks are available near the entrance from ul. Marymoncka and several other access points.
Bazantarnia and its surroundings form part of the Elblag Upland Landscape Park - an area of significant natural value. Stick to trails and always clean up after your dog.
Bulwar Zygmunta Augusta - riverside walk
Bulwar Zygmunta Augusta is Elblag's riverside promenade along the Elblag River - a pleasant route with views of the rebuilt Old Town and Granary Island (Wyspa Spichrzow). Popular year-round, and particularly nice in the evening.
Dogs are welcome on the promenade, but a lead is the norm in this busy public space. You'll find cafe terraces along the river, though individual venues vary in their pet policies - worth checking before you sit down.
From here it's an easy stroll to the Old Town - Gothic churches, Brama Targowa gate and narrow streets make a good addition after the riverside walk.
